Who is Rocky Mountain Bio Products/We Fix Dirt?
In 1987 Rocky Mountain Bio Products started with one organic product called “Biosol”, a natural organic product. Over several years we slowly added other high quality products to our product line. Biosol Forte was added as an economical alternative to Biosol, while producing the same great results. Earthgreen’s Menefee Humate, a micro nutrient and trace element product, was added to allow us to supply these important micro nutrients for those plant and soils that need it.
What is Biosol?
During the manufacture of penicillin, a fungal biomass (mycelium) is obtained by the fermentation of raw materials such as: soybean meal, cottonseed meal, sucrose, lactose, trace elements and vitamins under constant sterile conditions. The fungus strain used is Penicillium Chrysogenum. After the penicillin is removed, the remaining biomass is dried at 110 to 130° C for 3 to 4 hours. During this process the residual antibiotic is eliminated and the moisture is reduced by 3 to 6%. Finally, the mixture is granulated and placed in 50-pound recyclable bags.
What is Mycelium?
Mycelium is the vegetative part of a fungus, consisting of a network of fine white filaments called hyphae. It acts like the root system of fungi, growing in soil or other organic matter and breaking it down to absorb nutrients. Mycelium plays a crucial role in ecosystems by decomposing organic materials and forming symbiotic relationships with plants, aiding in nutrient exchange. It’s also important in regenerative agriculture and soil health due to its ability to enhance nutrient cycles and improve soil structure.
What is Biosol 6-1-1
Biosol is a 100% organic fertilizer made from dry mycelium, offering a sustainable, nature-based solution for improving soil health. This organic soil amendment releases nutrients slowly, enhancing plant growth and strengthening resistance to disease. With mycelium as a key component, Biosol fosters a balanced microbial environment, promoting long-term soil vitality. Its slow-release fertilizer formula ensures consistent nutrient availability throughout the growing season, making it ideal for those seeking eco-friendly, organic fertilizer options that boost soil and plant health naturally.
What is the difference between Biosol 6-1-1 and Forte?
Biosol fertilizer is a 7-2-1 organically bound nitrogen fertilizer and soil conditioner which promotes the humus formation and soil fertility due to 70% organic substance. Biosol activates the soil life and regenerates the soil with a long lasting effect. Higher humus values, better rooting and vitalization are specific characteristics of the organic fertilizer. The beneficial bacteria and beneficial fungi of the soil release the nutrients in accordance with the demand of the plants. The plants are perfectly nourished and there is little danger of nitrogen leaching. This unique blend of nutrients enables Biosol to stimulate root development, allowing plants of all kinds to fully absorb essential nutrients for longevity and maximum health.

What other products does Rocky Mountain Bio Products / We Fix Dirt carry?
Biosol: This is their primary product, an organic fertilizer described as a slow-release formula providing gentle nutrient delivery for improved plant health and soil quality.\nThe website also mentions other materials used in their soil amendment solutions, but they don’t seem to be offered as standalone products: Humate: A natural mineral that improves soil structure and nutrient availability. We also have Chemstar Tackifiers and Dust Control, Earthgreen Menefee Humates, Mycorrhizae: Beneficial fungi that promote plant growth by enhancing nutrient uptake. Stop by our website for more info!
What is Chemstar?
Environmental – Erosion Control When you really need to control erosion and waste-water challenges, field tests have proven Chemstar’s line of starch-derived environmental control products to be more effective than any other natural or synthetic products on the market. Chemstar’s starch-based tackifiers hold soils, seed and mulch in place to maximize seed germination resulting in a cost-effective erosion control plan for city, state and federal agencies. What’s more, these starch-based products are grown in the Upper Midwest – with a stable price point to help you make accurate, dependable budget forecasts. Choose from any of the following all-natural, cost-effective Chemstar products created especially for the environmental industry.
How many different Chemstar products do you offer?
We have 2 Chemstar products. StarTak 100 and StarTak600
What is Menefee Humates?
Earthgreen Menefee Humate – Menefee humate is a carbon and humic acid based granular soil conditioner that acts as an organic chelator and microbial stimulator. This is derived from fossilized plant and animal materials. It improves the plant’s ability to utilize vital nutrients, increasing plant growth and development. Menefee humate is a natural trace mineral, carbon and humic acid based soil conditioner. Granular humate will last 90 or more days in the soil. It will stimulate microbial activity in soil. Humate has a negative ion charge.
Mycorrhizal Fungi - what is that?
Mycor” – “rhiza” literally means “fungus” – “root” and defines the mutually beneficial relationship between the plant and root fungus. These specialized fungi colonize plant roots and extend far into the soil. Mycorrhizal fungal filaments in the soil are truly extensions of root systems and are more effective in nutrient and water absorption than the roots themselves. More than 90 percent of plant species in natural areas form a symbiotic relationship with the beneficial mycorrhizal fungi. Mycorrhizae is a beneficial root fungus that will increase the root structure of most plants by 100-1000 times.
Is Permamatrix an organic fertilizer?
PermaMatrix® is 100% organic, and begins the process of turning poor, unhealthy dirt into healthy productive soil. It improves nutrient availability to the plant by combining a unique blend of biochar (a type of charcoal or soil carbon) that retains water and provides habitat for soil microbes and mycorrhizae (beneficial fungi), minerals and clean organics (humates). This living soil amendment produces greater yields in garden vegetables and stronger, faster growing plants in the landscape.
